Bette Nicolet
Bette grew up near Mt. Rainier, Washington, and holds a Master’s in Teaching. She has been a teacher and librarian in the U.S. and Europe. Passionate about fostering independent reading, she enjoys exploring Switzerland and visiting Seattle yearly to see family, especially her grandkids.
Bianca Muggleton
Claudia Wachs
Claudia has taught at British School Bern since 2017. She holds a teaching degree from Hofwil, Bern, and a BA in Ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance, London. Fluent in multiple languages, she loves sharing her passion for dance and education. Outside school, she runs a Pilates studio and enjoys hiking with her dog and son.
Haley Haas
Haley, from Columbus, Nebraska, earned a Master’s in Education with a focus on ELL. After teaching in the U.S., she moved to Switzerland in 2009 and joined The British School in 2011. She enjoys its small class sizes, allowing her to meet curriculum standards while making learning fun.
Mara Frigo
Originally from Australia with Italian roots, Mara moved to Bern in 2023. With 20 years of experience teaching English and Humanities in Australia and the UK, she holds postgraduate degrees in education, psychology, and counseling. She has taught all levels and specializes in curriculum development and student well-being.
Dolina Burn
Dolina, a New Zealand Primary Teacher, has 19+ years of experience teaching various age groups. A certified Reading Recovery teacher, she is passionate about literacy, art, and singing. Married to a Swiss, she enjoys family time, nature, and celebrating her culture in both Switzerland and New Zealand.
Becci Bushell
Becci, originally from the UK, is a midwife with experience in Liverpool and nine years in Hong Kong, where she also trained in counseling. Since 2023 she has lived in Switzerland, focusing on family life, nature, and her hobbies while preparing to practice again once her German improves.
Michelle Flieler
Michelle, from Ontario, Canada, studied history and obtained her teaching diploma. After three years of teaching in Canada, she moved to South Korea and later to Switzerland, where she has been working at the British School Bern since 2008. She loves soccer, walking and crime documentaries.
Poorna Kleyn
Poorna, originally from Sri Lanka and now based in Switzerland since 2018. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Cardiff, UK. With over five years of experience working with children, she has developed a strong passion and talent for early education and special teaching support. Additionally, she excels at recreating dishes from various continents, showcasing her culinary talent and cultural appreciation.
Kerry Goodfellow
She values each child’s individuality and creativity, and she loves stepping into their world of imagination. She is delighted to be part of The British School Bern.
Lyndsey Shagoury
Lyndsey, from Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her Dual Masters Degree in Elementary Moderate Special Needs, along with a Sheltered English Immersion endorsement. She worked as a special education teacher for 10 years before moving to Switzerland in 2018. She enjoys spending her free time in the mountains with her family.
